Cave of the Winds Tours
Discovery Tour | Lantern Tour | Other Ways To Enjoy The Cave
Discovery Tour
Our most popular tour is an inspiring exploration into the surprising wonders of the underground. Marvel at geologic formations through raw passageways and across several caverns. Be awed with amazing historical tales and breathtaking sights of time evolved. Treasure the natural lessons of the earth. Treat yourself and your family to one of America’s greatest show caves.
The Discovery Tour is an easy walk led by a knowledgeable guide. It lasts about 40—45 minutes. The natural conditions of the caves keep the temperature a pleasant 54 degrees F, but make them inaccessible to strollers, baby backpacks (unless worn in front), and wheelchairs. The tour is not recommended for persons with heart and/or respiratory problems or who might be/are pregnant.

Lantern Tour
This unique tour is for the especially brave and curious Geo|Venturer!
Early cave explorers had only dim flames to light their way underground. Entering a cave was an eerie, astonishing journey into the unknown. But with each brave step forward, the wonders of the raw depths leapt to life in the moving light.
Now you can relive the anticipation, thrill, and awe of your ancestors. Dare to explore deep cave passages by the warm glow of hand-held lanterns. Marvel at the guide’s incredible nuggets of geology and area history. Shiver at tales of frightening folklore and baffling occurrences. Be inspired by the silent, living earth. Experience the enchantment of the caves as they can only be seen… by dim lantern light.
The Lantern Tour lasts about 1½ hours. Some stopping and shuffling is required, and athletic shoes are highly recommended for sure footing. Due to the mysterious nature and physical requirements of the Lantern Tour, it is not recommended for persons with heart and/or respiratory problems and women who might be/are pregnant. Children aged 5 years and younger are not allowed.
This very popular tour has both limited space and tour time availability—so don’t be disappointed, buy your tickets online in advance!
